Avenue C Mural Contest

We’re excited to introduce the finalists for this year’s Avenue C Mural Contest: Donna Wolf and Jessie Lipscomb. Thank you to everyone who submitted a design! The strength of this year’s submissions made the review process both inspiring and highly competitive.
This year’s finalists were chosen by a community review board, including last year’s muralist, Jon Bosch. Saying goodbye to Jon’s mural isn’t easy, but this exhibit has been a rotating installation that highlights local artists and gives visitors a reason to return each summer to see something new. Having Jon help select and pass the torch to the next muralist made this transition especially meaningful.

Call for Artists
The Avenue C mural wall is ready for its next installation, and we’re inviting artists to help shape the next piece of public art in downtown Snohomish. This rotating mural space highlights local creativity and brings new energy to one of our most‑visited corridors.
We are currently accepting design concept submissions for the next mural. Applications are due July 15th, and all project details including the full timeline and design specifications are outlined in the application form. Your design should capture the spirit of Snohomish and the Historic Downtown district. This is a great opportunity for an up-and-coming artist to try a bigger project and previous mural experience not required.
This is a non-commissioned, volunteer project. HDSA will provide paint & supplies per the artist’s request (up to $750). Art installation must be completed by August 31st, 2026. There is a $500 stipend available for the selected artist as a "Thank you" for your artistic contribution to the community.
2025 Winner: Jon Bosch
Last year’s Avenue C mural was created by a Snohomish-based artist who has called this community home for more than half his life. Known for bold colors and simple, striking shapes, he approached the project as a chance to give back to the place that shaped him. His design, created by spray paint, was inspired by the valley’s sweeping views, the Cascades, and the river where he has spent years fishing for trout and salmon. The mural’s imagery—a parent and child in a boat, a radiant sunrise, and hot air balloons nodding to Harvey Airfield—reflects the beauty, connection, and everyday magic he sees in Snohomish.
To make your visit even more memorable, we’ve installed a selfie station directly across from the mural, perfectly positioned for capturing that ideal shot. Be sure to share your photos with us using #avenuecmural—your selfie might even be featured on our social media channels!
You can view previous winner's in the gallery below and you can purchase commemorative postcards featuring these designs at AnnaMarie Creative Collective in downtown Snohomish. This mural project is part of HDSA’s ongoing beautification efforts, ensuring that downtown Snohomish remains a dynamic and immersive destination for all.
